Beer Review: Anderson Valley Hop Ottin’ IPA

Anderson Valley Brewing, Hop Ottin' IPA

Beer Info

Brewer:  Anderson Valley Brewing Company
Style:  IPA
IBU’s:  80
ABV:  7%

Tasting Notes

This is a brew for hop heads.  It’s big, bold and bitter.  It’s not quite what I expected from Anderson Valley since the Boont Amber Ale is quite mellow.  Boont Amber Ale also happens to be one of my favorite amber ales out there.  This beer pours a beautiful copper color with a soft white head.  It has solid lacing with dissipating foam as my glass becomes more empty.  The initial taste is filled with super dry grapefruit and resin.  It finishes with a lingering pine flavor.  This is a prime example of a west coast ipa.  It’s got in your face hops with a strong flavor profile from start to finish.
